It’s OK to Disagree

May 3, 2020 By rjmorris 1 Comment

Choose your battles carefully. Only go to the mat when the issue is critical and you are sure you are on the right side of the issue.

Men and women died in the Civil War because they were willing to die for the way they felt about slavery and states rights. Hundreds of thousands lost their lives because they thought one human could own another.

Parents have lost children when they carped about a clean room and pushed their teenager into despair.

Executive sales managers have lost stellar employees over commission cuts or territory disputes. Be sure you are on the right side of the fence before you take an unbending position. Picture yourself in their shoes before you take a strong stand. Always sleep on it before you go to war. There will be casualties in a war.

Suddenly-Something-New

April 8, 2019 By rjmorris 1,427 Comments

We can go through life repeatedly going down the same path and one day suddenly see something new to us, that has been there all along. Don’t get stuck thinking you have everything figured out. Keep your eyes open and suddenly you will see something new.  Be creative, embrace new ideas.  Creativity is in your DNA.  You were made to be creative.   Artists and writers are not the only ones creative; engineers, attorneys, plumbers, electricians, janitors, and clerks are all creative.

Decisions

October 9, 2018 By rjmorris 2 Comments

It has been said that a tree is 90% air. When attempting a chip shot does that mean “always play it safe?” Not exactly, but it does mean slow down and make an informed decision. Seek council for big decisions in business and also in life. Wisdom comes from council,  meditation, and Divine intervention.  For important life changing decisions,  increase time and information before you decide. Do not make emotional snap decisions.

Rationalizing-Failure

May 8, 2018 By rjmorris Leave a Comment

Make mistakes valuable by using them to climb to new successes.  Never rationalize a failure. Change whatever caused the failure. Leadership is not easy, leadership is hard work.  If someone has to go, don’t delay because time is crucial. The effective members of the team will appreciate hard decisions that move the ball down the field.

Investors do not get excited about a good idea.  Good ideas are a dime a dozen.  Investors appraise the team before they invest.

Fear-and-Courage

June 6, 2017 By rjmorris Leave a Comment

There is a business lesson we can receive from squirrels that cross the street. A squirrel with fear will turn back when he sees danger and many times be crushed. A courageous squirrel will many times live because he stays on mission. Courage in the face of danger is a gift that successful entrepreneurs have.

Ideas-Success

May 22, 2017 By rjmorris Leave a Comment

We say action speaks louder than words, however, words are required before action. Remember words and action are only two of the components of success.

Ideas prompt thoughts, thoughts crystalize into words, words produce action, action of key people create success.

Words-Are-Powerful

Words can tear down or build up. For example you can tell a child “You will never amount to anything” or you can say “I see you have an ear for music.” When you see a penny on the sidewalk you can pick it up and say “Money is coming to me today.” Or you […]

Shame-Resistance

If I’m going to be ashamed I’m not going to do it. If I’m going to do it I’m not going to be ashamed.

Climate-Change-Really?

We have a compulsion to simplify the complex. Most people have decided what is true and what is false.  Look at the earth’s average temperature over the past ten years.  Almost flat. Is Climate Change an emergency?
