When-Do-You-Tell

January 16, 2014 By rjmorris Leave a Comment

stealingYou suspect a coworker has been stealing but you can’t prove it. What do you do?

Don’t accuse anyone without first hand knowledge. Don’t act on here say. If you are 100% sure then go to your supervisor (unless he or she is the culprit) and lay out the facts. Then drop it unless you see it again.

My-Boss-Makes-Life-Miserable

December 7, 2013 By rjmorris Leave a Comment

“You have a boss that is a taskmaster.

No matter what you do it is never good enough.  You want to quit but haven’t found another job.  Stay there, you will learn more about authority and humility under a difficult boss than under a pleasant one.  You will be a better person and a better boss yourself sooner than you might think.  Change will come suddenly.  Respect authority never under cut or back stab. Work well under authority and you will receive authority. Always make those above look good, they will see it and trust you. Your promotion will come right on time.”

No matter how hard I try it's never good enough.

No matter how hard you try you never get it right.

Woman-Looking-For-An-Answer

December 7, 2013 By rjmorris Leave a Comment

“There is a woman with children who needs to make more money. She has been looking for a franchise she can borrow money to buy.  Don’t go down that path.  Take a second job doing something you have always dreamed of.  Work for a person who has been doing it for years even if you have to work for low pay.  There you will find the path you have been looking for.  You will be in a successful business in a year.”

Which way do I go?

Which way do I go?

“You have been trying to get your company to go after some extra business that keeps coming at you but your bosses will not listen.  It’s time to talk to someone you trust to talk about how to go out on your own.”

‘Don’t talk to a “want-a-be” for advice, talk to a “been there and was successful” about it.”

“It takes more than a good idea and hard work to make a new business work.”

Words-Are-Powerful

Words can tear down or build up. For example you can tell a child “You will never amount to anything” or you can say “I see you have an ear for music.” When you see a penny on the sidewalk you can pick it up and say “Money is coming to me today.” Or you […]

Shame-Resistance

If I’m going to be ashamed I’m not going to do it. If I’m going to do it I’m not going to be ashamed.

Climate-Change-Really?

We have a compulsion to simplify the complex. Most people have decided what is true and what is false.  Look at the earth’s average temperature over the past ten years.  Almost flat. Is Climate Change an emergency?
